Water Days Izmir
OUR WATER -SUYUMUZ- is the basis of all life on our planet.
However, clean water as a habitat and the most important of all resources is becoming increasingly scarce in many parts of the world due to environmental pollution and climate change.
The Goethe-Institut Izmir, together with partners from education, science, culture and business, would like to raise awareness of the importance of water.

SUYUMUZ gezegenimizdeki hayatın temelidir.
Bir yaşam alanı ve tüm kaynakların en önemlisi olan temiz su maalesef dünyanın büyük bölümlerinde çevre kirliliği ve iklim değişikliği nedeniyle gitgide tükenmektedir.
Goethe-Enstitüsü İzmir olarak eğitim, bilim, kültür ve ekonomi alanlarından partnerlerle suyun önemi hususunda farkındalık yaratmak veya hatırlatmada bulunmak istiyoruz.
The Goethe-Institut İzmir invites you to a series of talks on the sustainable use of water. Under the theme "Our Water - İzmir Water Days," experts will gather in İzmir on November 19–21, 2024, to discuss the importance of water for the future of our planet, focusing on İzmir and its broader implications. As the Goethe-Institut İzmir, we are organizing the second edition of “Our Water - İzmir Water Days” this year, aiming to bring together perspectives from academia, independent organizations, and professional chambers on water management, urbanization processes, the protection of water resources, and sustainable water policies. Our event offers a comprehensive program with keynote speeches, panels, and workshops.
The event will begin with a session titled "Water and the City: An Academic Perspective." In this session, the City and Regional Planning Department and the Environmental Engineering Department of İzmir Institute of Technology will discuss practices for water management and the protection of water resources within the framework of Sustainable Development Goals.
This will be followed by the session "Water and the City: Ecology and Public Solutions," where topics such as marine ecology, nature-based solutions to the water crisis, and urban solutions for current issues in water management and the fight for water rights will be evaluated.
Finally, the session "Water and the City: A Professional Chambers Perspective" will explore practices related to climate change, urban wastewater treatment plants and technologies, and the protection of water resources.
We believe these sessions will provide a valuable platform for addressing local solutions to İzmir’s water issues, efforts to protect water rights, and contributions to the community.
Goethe-Institut İzmir sizi suyun sürdürülebilir kullanımı üzerine konuşma serisine davet ediyor. "Suyumuz- İzmir Su Günleri" başlığı altında, 19 – 20 – 21 Kasım 2024 tarihlerinde İzmir'de bir araya gelecek olan uzmanlar gezegenimizin geleceği için suyun önemini tartışmak üzere İzmir'den genele odaklanıyoruz. Goethe Institut İzmir olarak bu yıl ikincisini düzenleyeceğimiz “Suyumuz- İzmir Su Günleri”; su yönetimi, kentleşme süreçleri, su kaynaklarının korunması ve sürdürülebilir su politikaları üzerine akademik, bağımsız ve meslek odası perspektiflerini bir araya getirmeyi amaçlıyoruz. Etkinliğimiz açılış konuşmaları, paneller ve atölye çalışmaları ile geniş yelpazeli bir program sunuyor.
Etkinlikler, "Su ve Kent: Akademik Perspektif" başlıklı oturum ile başlayacak. Bu oturumda İzmir Yüksek Teknoloji Enstitüsü’nün Şehir ve Bölge Planlama Bölümü ve Çevre Mühendisliği Bölümü, Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Hedefleri çerçevesinde su yönetimi ve su kaynaklarının korunmasına yönelik pratikleri ele alacak. Ardından, "Su ve Kent: Ekoloji ve Kamusal Çözümler" oturumunda deniz ekolojisi, su krizine karşı doğa temelli çözümler, su yönetimi ve su hakkı mücadelesindeki rolü ile kentsel alandaki güncel sorunlara yönelik çözüm önerileri değerlendirilecek. Son olarak, "Su ve Kent: Meslek Odaları Perspektifi" oturumunda iklim değişikliği, kentsel atıksu arıtma tesisleri ve teknolojileri ile su kaynaklarının korunmasına dair uygulamalar tartışılacak. Bu oturumların, İzmir'in su sorunlarına yönelik yerelde geliştirilen çözümler, su hakkının korunması için verilen mücadeleler ve toplumsal katkılar açısından çok değerli bir platform oluşturacağını düşünmekteyiz.
